A Status Message a Day #79
Sometimes my conscience looks like Yoda from Star Wars...
I have to say, he's pretty hard to please.

#ComicNY Pt. 2
I had the fortune of attending the Comic New York Symposium at Columbia
University over the weekend. As I said in an earlier post, it was two
days in comics heaven. Thanks to Karen Green and all the organizers for
making it happen and to panelists and comic legends that graced the
stage.
I thought I would share some notes I took in my sketchbook. This is by no means a finished piece or at all representative of the event - but it shows the process by which I'm processing what I gleaned from all the panels and speakers. Hope you enjoy, even if it's hard to read.

Two days spent in comics heaven -- more sketches to come!

A Status Message a Day #77
I can't believe I'm posting this, but the angel captures my meta-disgust perfectly. I keep telling myself it's a process, not a destination.

A Status Message a Day #76
(I ran out of time to refine this, but I'm trying to work fast and post what I have, even if it's not fully baked.)
Let's talk about race...
This is only a snippet of a larger conversation, but it's a good start. Jeff Chang ("Can't Stop Won't Stop") had this to say last week at an event hosted by the Asian American Writers' Workshop. Check them out! Twitter: @aaww)
The panel's them was "AFTER 1989: Why can't we all just get along?: Integration, Assimilation, and Fantasies of American Society" and also featured Kazembe Balagun, Elizabeth Mendez Berry, Hua Hsu, Hiram Parez, Jay Smooth, and Salamishah Tillet.

Thank You, Dear Reader
Thank you, friends from all over the world in 90 countries, for taking the time to visit my humble blog. The encouragement you offer me goes a long way and motivates me to keep plugging along :)
I'm happy to report that the blog hit 10,000 page views yesterday! It wasn't overnight, but hooray for those mini-milestones :)
So thank you for commenting, sharing, or just continuing to check back for updates. I appreciate it!
RedHerringJeff, thank you for including my blog in your very generous blog post on Monday. Like you said, blogging can "feel a lot like having a conversation with yourself," so it's extra nice to make unexpected connections...especially with fellow artists!
Also, credit goes to playwright/journalist/attorney/et cetera Wajahat Ali for the title "Connie to the Wonnie" and for nagging me to do this for, oh, about 10 years. Thank you :)
Special thanks to my parents who probably account for half of all page views! And my little brother, who has let me draw funny pictures of him at every stage of life :)

Man in a Tree Pt. 2
Part 2 of the best thing I saw this weekend. I had to sketch and ink this fast, but I'm posting what I have.
In near instant hindsight, I realized I should've asked his name!

Man in a Tree Pt. 1
The only conversation I had this weekend was with a man perched in a tree. Here's a sketch. Stay tuned for part 2!

A Status Message a Day #75
I'm working on a longer comic, so here's a quick sketch...
Spring is making it's first appearance in NYC, which means I should probably get myself to the gym. Chagrin, chagrin.

Politically Correct Man
Tell me how you really feel, PC man.
(Hmm, this echoes an older post: A Study of Civilized Man. I guess it's kind of a theme.)

A Friend Like Bridget
I may or may not be as dull as a rock, but Bridget still hung out with me ;) Holla if she's your friend too!
Happy birthday, Bridge!
