I second that Debt. Great articulation of a weird phenmenon Connie. I love it when I write something I think is heart-rending and people across the board laugh. At first it was disappointing, now I'm just happy that people genuinely react. In an interesting parallel, if you go back and watch the ubergenius Richard Pryor's comedy and listen to it another way...it's really really sad.

Mel Brooks says that someone else slips and falls into sewer, and that's comedy. If you get a paper cut, that's tragedy.
