Here's another mature outlook on it: You really wouldn't like going out with most of those people, either. I recall being depressed that I didn't have a date for an event and then realizing that I wouldn't want to spend time with anyone who could have asked me.
BTW, I actually have a good love life these days, but I won't depress you further by telling you how many years it took before I got here.
