A new elephant comic strip. Thinking about gun violence in America while working.
We've had almost back-to-back mass shootings across the country just in the last week, alongside fresh reports of police brutality. It's like another ongoing viral contagion, on top of the covid-19 pandemic, an overwhelming backdrop to getting on with our daily lives.
I'm also trying to remind myself that these are not isolated tragedies; there's something happening that is bigger than we are. At times, just getting through the day without doing too much damage is an evolutionary win.
Stay well, stay present, and thanks for reading.

A year ago I kept reading on Pinterest and other social media platforms how the pandemic was "bringing us all closer", "bringing us together" etc. As a direct result we were all going to be kinder, gentler, more compassionate and understanding.
I guess not.
I'd like to have a wise elephant too. Great blog!

Yes Connie, you are doing things that matter. Your work reminds me to be kind to myself and others; seeing your cartoons and drawings is a moment of comfort and solace in a chaotic and sometimes frightening world. Yes, what you do matters, it matters a lot.
It astonishes m how people can deny someone else’s humanity and only see them as “other”. Thank you for your insights and your art. Draw on!
Big time truth here. I've hidden myself in isolation and creativity. That's all I can do. It isn't much but it's better than what some others are doing. Life is short and I should do all I can for myself. Take Care.
M, same here. All I can do is what I can do. I have turned to isolation, creativity and prayer. Right now artists like Connie, and Youtube nature sounds are my greatest consolation.
