Remembering my dear friend Bridget McElroy, who we lost too soon. It was just her birthday.
In grad school, she would see me always doodling in the margins of research papers and tell me emphatically, “Connie, you’re an artist! What are you doing here? You need to go make art! Let yourself be happy!” When I started cartooning, she never stopped cheering me on. That’s the kind of friend she was to everybody who was lucky enough to know her.
Thanks for always believing in me, B. Here’s your annual birthday drawing. Photo tribute on Instagram

What a blessing to have a friend like that, Connie. May life send you many such.
Beautiful tribute. Thanks for sharing her memory with us. *hugs*
A woman who lived her life in such a way as to affirm the lives of others.
An extraordinary friend, indeed.
