Every inch of progress counts - or at least that's what I tell myself. Godspeed all of us toward our better selves.
Thanks for reading. Connie on Ko-fi
[2-panel borderless webcomic of a cartoon girl with a braid, in full stride, chasing after a carrot on a stick. Panel 1 text reads, "For anyone who's trying to be a better person...have patience." In panel 2, the girl is doubled over, panting with exhaustion, carrot still dangling out of reach. A medium elephant holding a bottle with its trunk observes the girl. Panel 2 text reads, "Worthwhile things can take time." A beat and Elephant asks, "Want a sip of seltzer?" Heading of comic: "Becoming Worthwhile." Original comic strip by Connie Sun, cartoonconnie, 2022.]

Connie, think about it for a moment: the big difference between yourself now and when you started your cartooning journey. I hope you think, “Whoa, that IS a big change for the better!” We do these things and hopefully we find ourselves thrilled to be who we’ve become. Otherwise, it becomes a terribly deadly hunt as you portray. Best wishes to you and Anna in Spain.
As a wise friend of mine used to say, "You can only see the bit of the design you're working on right now. If you could see the whole pattern, would you be so upset?" I learned to think about one step at a time. Just one more step. One more day/hour/task. No more than that because I get overwhelmed easily.
If someone had told me five years ago where I would be today I would not have believed it. The pandemic killed my job, but it also forced me to put down some burdens I now realise were not mine to carry.
